Privacy Policy
Last updated: 27 September 2026. This page explains what personal data UMLAB Sarawak collects through this website, why, and what you can do about it.
1. Who we are
This website (www.umlabsarawak.com) is operated by UMLAB Laboratory & Services (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. (Co. Reg. No. 202401009643 / 1555493-H), a subsidiary of UMLAB Laboratory & Services Sdn Bhd (Co. Reg. No. 1364979-T), Skudai, Johor. In this policy, "we," "us," and "UMLAB Sarawak" refer to UMLAB Laboratory & Services (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd.
This policy is issued in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (Act 709) of Malaysia ("PDPA").
2. What we collect, and how
Browsing this website. This site does not use cookies or advertising trackers. We do not build a browsing profile of visitors. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and a small number of actions (such as submitting the RFQ form or tapping the phone or WhatsApp link) in aggregate. It sets no cookies and does not identify individual visitors: a visitor is recognised only by a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and icon font provider (Google Fonts, used to load this site's icons) may each log standard technical information as part of delivering the site — such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested — as a normal function of serving web content. We do not access or use these logs for marketing purposes.
Submitting the Request for Quotation (RFQ) form. If you submit our RFQ form, we collect the information you enter: company/contact details, project information (site district, testing requirements, dates, location), and invoicing details. This is the only place on the site where you are asked to provide personal data.
3. How we use RFQ data
We use the information submitted through the RFQ form to process and schedule your testing request, coordinate site logistics, prepare invoices and reports, and communicate with you about your project. Supplying the required fields is necessary for us to act on your request — without it, we cannot process it.
4. How RFQ data is processed and who sees it
The RFQ form submits directly to Google Forms and is stored in a linked Google Sheet; a Google Apps Script sends an email notification of each submission to our operations inbox. As a result, your submitted data is processed on Google's infrastructure, subject to Google's own privacy policy.
Beyond Google's processing of the form itself, we disclose your data to our parent entity, UMLAB Laboratory & Services Sdn Bhd (for coordination on testing standards and methodologies), and to the contractor or client company named on your form (where relevant to fulfilling the same testing engagement). We disclose data where required by law. We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing.
If you attach files by email in support of an RFQ (our form itself does not accept file uploads), those attachments are received at our email inbox, hosted by our email provider.
5. How long we keep it
We retain RFQ and testing-engagement data, including associated reports, for 6 months from the date a report is issued, or longer where required by law (for example, tax or audit obligations), consistent with the retention period stated in our Request for Quotation Terms & Conditions.
6. Your rights
Under the PDPA, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or withdrawal of consent for your personal data that we hold. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@umlabsarawak.com. We will respond within a reasonable time. Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to process an existing or future testing request.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data submitted to us against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
This website is intended for business use by companies and individuals procuring or coordinating materials testing services, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for legal or operational reasons. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes affecting how RFQ data is handled will also be reflected in the Request for Quotation form's own Personal Data Protection Notice.
