Steel Bar Testing Services
UMLAB Sarawak carries out tension and deformation testing for reinforcement steel, alongside soil and pavement bearing value checks, for building and infrastructure projects across Sarawak.
What We Test
Tensile Test
Pulls a steel reinforcement bar to failure to determine its yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and elongation.
Bending Test
Bends a steel bar around a mandrel to check it can deform to the required angle without cracking, verifying ductility.
Rebend Test
Re-bends a previously bent steel bar to check it withstands the additional deformation without fracturing.
Plate Bearing Test
Applies a known load through a rigid plate onto soil or a pavement layer to determine its bearing capacity and stiffness modulus. See our plate bearing test guide.
Clegg Soil Impact Test
Drops a Clegg hammer onto a compacted surface and measures deceleration to give a rapid impact-value indicator of soil or pavement stiffness. See our Clegg impact test guide.

Standards & Reporting
Testing follows Malaysian JKR specifications and standard geotechnical test methods. Final test reports are endorsed by a Professional Engineer (PEPC).
