Concrete Coring Test in Sarawak

Concrete core sampling and core compressive strength testing for contractors, consultants and building owners who need the strength of hardened concrete in place.

Common Problems on Concrete Jobs

01 / 08

Failed cube test results

Standard test cubes fail to reach the specified compressive strength at 28 days, prompting the consultant to request cores to determine actual in-situ strength.

02 / 08

Unknown strength before renovation

Structural drawings or historical records are unavailable for an existing building undergoing refurbishment, alteration or change of occupancy.

03 / 08

Additional structural loading

New equipment installation, rooftop additions or increased floor loads require direct verification of structural concrete capacity before approvals.

04 / 08

Concrete quality disputes

Disagreements arise between the contractor, ready-mix supplier and owner regarding concrete batch quality and placement standards on site.

05 / 08

Honeycombing or poor compaction

Visible voiding, segregation or honeycombing in cast elements raises concerns over internal consolidation and structural integrity.

06 / 08

Missing cubes or lost records

Cube specimens were not cast during the pour, or curing and test records are missing, leaving no standard quality control verification.

07 / 08

Coring around reinforcement

Core extraction points must be carefully selected and planned to avoid cutting main reinforcement bars, post-tension tendons or conduit.

08 / 08

Results needed before handover

Supervising consultants and authorities require confirmed in-situ compressive strength test data before final certification or project handover.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a concrete coring test?

A diamond core drill cuts and extracts a cylindrical sample from hardened concrete in the structure. The core is examined, prepared and crushed in a compression machine to measure the in-situ compressive strength.

When do you need cores instead of cubes?

Cores are needed when cast cube results fail specification, when cube records are missing or disputed, or when assessing an existing structure before renovation or additional load.

What core sizes do you take?

We take 4 inch (100 mm) and 6 inch (150 mm) diameter cores, depending on aggregate size and structural requirements.

Do you come to site in Sarawak?

Yes, our team cores on site; see service areas.

How do I book?

Use the booking form; give location, element and number of cores.
